Modern tunnel construction faces a variety of complex challenges that require innovative planning approaches and advanced technologies. Dynamic loads caused by traffic or seismic activities place high demands on the stability and durability of tunnel structures. Requirements for Tunnel Fixings in the Event of Fire

Unfortunately, the risk of fire in a tunnel system can never be completely ruled out. However, to keep the danger to people and property damage as low as possible, preventive structural fire protection measures are absolutely necessary. These are based on extensive calculations and tests regarding fire progression and fire temperature. The fischer range consists of a variety of plugs and anchors that have been subjected to fire testing according to specific fire curves (DIN 4102, RABT/ZTV, Rijkswaterstaat curve). Naturally, fischer also offers various systems for increased anchoring depths.

  • Anchor Rails

  • Fire Protection Claddings and Other Installations

    In tunnel construction, special requirements apply to fastening systems, especially for the installation of fire protection claddings, ventilation ducts, and metal rails. The fischer Nail Anchor FNA II offers a reliable and secure solution for this purpose. Made from highly corrosion-resistant steel, tested according to ETA up to fire resistance class R 120 and additional fire resistance requirements according to fire load curves (e.g. ZTV-ING, RWS, …), the FNA II meets the highest standards for safety, fire resistance, and durability. With its simple through-installation and automatic expansion mechanism, it ensures a permanent and precise anchoring. This makes the FNA II particularly suitable for applications where robust fastening and compliance with fire protection regulations are required.

  • Chemical Fixing Solutions

    Chemical high-performance fixing systems are used to anchor fans or overhead lines in tunnel construction to permanently and securely withstand the dynamic loads caused by vibrations from the application or road and rail traffic.
    When installing tunnel fans, the fischer ETA-approved injection system, consisting of the FIS HB injection mortar and the special Highbond anchor FHB-A dyn, is used for secure anchoring of dynamic loads in cracked concrete.

    Temporary fastenings play a crucial role in tunnel construction to ensure safety and stability during construction or repair work. Concrete screws are particularly effective, impressing with their ease of use. They enable quick, reliable anchoring in concrete without elaborate preparatory work. These solutions are ideal for temporarily fixing construction elements or formwork, while also offering the flexibility to easily remove them again if needed. This combines efficiency with safety. For temporary fastenings, residue-free dismantling of the construction elements including the fastening materials is of great importance, as well as preventing damage to the structure. Furthermore, dismantling also plays a major role in renovation projects when maintenance work is due.

      200 kilometres of rail network, 68 new underground stations and four additional subway lines – "Le Grand Paris Express" is one of the largest infrastructure projects currently being implemented in Europe.       Metro Line 1 Guiyang China

      The new Metro Line 1 in Guiyang, the capital of the southwestern Chinese province of Guizhou, extends over a distance of 34 km and includes 24 stations. The construction of this metro posed great challenges for those involved due to the complex geological and hydrological conditions as well as the risk of natural disasters such as earthquakes.

      fischer anchors in the Brenner Base Tunnel

      Europe’s largest infrastructure project to date is in full progress. Since 2007, the Brenner Base Tunnel has been under construction – the longest underground railway connection in the world. Completion is planned for 2027.
